Sada Worthington wrote:
Destination : Jamaica
Aim: sun, sea, rum, reggae and lots more
Time: April 09 for 10 days

This was the first time I was visiting Jamaica with my current beau. It was to be a trip of many firsts. We landed at the Sangster's International Airport in Montego Bay, after the monstrous queue, we were finally in Jamaica. Unlike most tourists, we didn't get the buses to take us to our hotel. After all I was a seasoned Jamaican traveler, so we rented a car, piled our stuff in and started the drive to Ocho Rios where we were booked in at the Royal Plantation Resort and Spa Hotel.
Driving was a first for me in Jamaica, but it was cool, this first go, I kept at a speed I was comfy with and relaxed, so not too bad.

At the hotel, we were greeted quite warmly, there were cold towels to soothe us from out travels, a very nice touch I thought. When we were shown to our suite, there was a welcome home plate of cookies and coffee, again very nice. But hey we were in Jamaica, on the first night of our stay,we had more than coffee and cookies in mind.

Even though we had a mini bar that had a range of rum and mixers, we wanted something more ..umm festive, so champagne, strawberries and chocolate were ordered. Call us Europeans, lol.. but hey..... we wanted what we wanted.

The room was quite impressive large with a siting area, and a lovely sea view, huge bathroom as well. The furnishings were lovely especially that four poster bed that did give us that plantation feel.

Room service breakfast was great which we had daily as we left the hotel to go and roam the town of Ocho Rios, see the sights, and just soak up the feel.
Dunns River Falls is a must see, Dolphins Cove, swimming with the dolphins, Prospect Plantation and horseback riding, there is also snorkeling. The craft market is also a must see, we picked up some cool things in there.

Note about Royal Plantation though, dinner is a dressed up affair if you want to eat at the French or other restaurant,it has to be booked, but who has the time to remember these things?...one night we ended up on the terrace where you eat if you haven't booked, and another night we were at the beach bar and grill, which is more our style.

We spent one day on the actual grounds just walking around and chasing the peacocks, which was fun, the beach was never crowded as it is a small hotel, so we felt as if the staff really knew us.

Nuff luv to Cleon , our "Mr. cool", he was the guy on the beach who fetched and carried drinks or spritzed us with rose water when it got really hot. Yep! we were treated like lord and lady of the manner.

Though we enjoyed the 4 days we spent at RP,it is not the place for you if you are a party person, things close down quite early. But we were ok with that as we were knackered due to our daily activities. Secondly, its pricey, but worth it as we were treated like royalty. I was previously an all inclusive snob, however RP changed my mind.

next.. St Bess
